About our sessions

Wavelength Social Communication is a neurodiversity-affirming speech-language pathology private practice specializing in social cognition and executive functioning support.

I support neurodivergent and neurocomplex clients in their self-identified social goals and provide a context to build community and develop social connections.

Concepts addressed are related to the client’s own self- identified social goals and may include (but are not limited to):

  • self advocacy

  • executive functioning support for skills such as time management, emotional regulation, planning, and organization

  • social perspective taking

  • increasing independence in the social world

  • reading the possible intentions of others

  • building a future sketch of new situations in order to increase your comfort and identify potential goals

  • social problem solving in friendships, family contexts, work, school, and/ or dating

  • social challenges relating to navigating a neurotypical-centered world when you have a neurodivergent brain

Meet Jen

Jen (she/her) is a neurodiversity-affirming speech-language pathologist specializing in social communication therapy and executive functioning support.

She received her B.A. in Linguistics and Italian and B.S. in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Arizona and her M.S. in Clinical Speech-Language Pathology from Northern Arizona University.

Jen has over two decades of experience working with neurodivergent and twice exceptional clients. She began her career as a school speech-language pathologist in Arizona, eventually making the switch to the clinic setting to work with school-aged clients as well as adults.

She is a nationally certified speech-language pathologist and is licensed in California and Colorado. Jen has presented at state, national, and global speech-language pathology conferences, discussing topics such as: pragmatic language assessments in schools; “Social Cognition 101” for SLPs; and how the Double Empathy Problem impacts perceived respectfulness in neurodivergent clients.

A bit about me personally:

  • I’m a dog-obsessed person who somehow ended up with a cat (in addition to my chihuahua, Dexter, pictured above).

  • I love knitting- the more tedious the project, the better.

  • I’m a slightly obsessive reader with a TBR that I’ll probably never fully tackle in my lifetime.

  • I love hearing about people’s special interests and learning fun facts from y’all.
